I Saloni 2012 – #Milan12 with Amtico Designers

Day 1 of our trip to I Saloni has been both enjoyable and inspiring. With so many amazing exhibitions on offer, we thought we’d take the opportunity to share three of our designers’ favourites (so far) with you.

Product design and manufacturing processes are at the forefront of the Milan exhibition this year, with 3D digital printing playing a huge part in this.

Jenny Wise, Amtico Senior Designer says; “We arrived in Milan this morning and headed straight for the ‘MOST’ event at the technology museum in the centre of the city. It turned out to be a great way to start the trip, with some renowned designers (including Tom Dixon and his 3D printing) showcasing their work in an amazingly inspirational setting.”

Other things that caught Jenny’s eye were some beautiful styling; “there were lots of lovely combinations to inspire product design and creative design ideas.”

As ever, the Milan show goes some way towards formulating future trends and refining current ones throughout the world of design.

Lauren Ashcroft, Senior Designer at Amtico had her head turned by Missoni; “The Missoni stand proved to be a treat for the senses. Particularly on-trend for summer 2012, we loved their bright mix of colour, texture and pattern; grown-up, glamorous, yet fun – perfect.”

Vitra are a firm favourite amongst the design team at Amtico. This year they’ve managed to impress us once again. With a beautiful and stunning style to their exhibition presence, they were always going to be a joy to visit.

Karen Quarterman, Senior Amtico Designer says “Year after year Vitra features on our map of influential brands to look out for here in Milan and they never fail to disappoint. We love this year’s stand exterior of stacked backlit crates creating a ghostly feel, an urban contrast to the eclectic and quirky displays within.”

It’s been a truly inspiring first day at the show for our team. We’ll be letting you in to some more of our favourites from the show this week, so keep checking back. And, if you’re there yourself, we’d love to know which your favourite stands were this year!
