Clerkenwell Design Week highlights best of British design

With the Jubilee fast approaching we thought we’d offer-up another of our videos from Clerkenwell Design Week, this time based around the re-emergence of British design.

An upsurge in traditional techniques and a focus on craftsmanship was evident at this years’ event. It’s possible that a return to more austere ideals has created a desire for built-to-last products – and Britain has long been at the forefront of quality in product design.

This excellence in British design and workmanship was typified by companies like Jaguar Landrover and their amazing live car-design exhibition. Also in attendance were Anglepoise who are celebrating their 80th birthday this year. Anglepoise are a company with true British heritage and they showed why with a stunning display of their new Anglepoise Duo lamps, putting a modern twist on their original design.

Take a look at the video above to hear Designer Gerard McGuickin and Head of Buying for the Southbank Centre, Adam Thow, talking about what is currently making British design so exciting.
